Dhaka, 27 July 2026 — Around fifty undergraduate students and two faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), visited Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) on Monday, 27 July 2026, at the UGC Auditorium, UGC Bhaban, Agargaon, Dhaka.

The day-long industry visit was arranged to give students first-hand exposure to BdREN's national research and education network — its backbone infrastructure, data centre operations, cybersecurity practice, digital e-resources and high-performance computing services — and to connect what they study in the classroom with how a national network is actually built and run.

Biplab Chandra Mahanta, Manager (Sales), BdREN, opened the programme with welcome remarks and an introduction to the organisation. Kh. Rashedul Arefin, GM (Systems & Services), BdREN, followed with a presentation on the BdREN network, its service portfolio and its role in strengthening higher education and research in Bangladesh.

A technical session conducted by Jamilur Rahman and Ahmed Al Hossain of BdREN took the students through connectivity services, cybersecurity, HPC and cloud computing, and the consortium e-resources programme that brings eJournals, eBooks and digital tools to member institutions nationwide.

Md. Imranur Rahman, Assistant Manager (Sales), BdREN, who coordinated the visit, also conducted a session on corporate soft skills for emerging professionals, addressing the workplace competencies graduates are expected to bring alongside their technical training.

The students were then taken on a guided tour of the BdREN Data Centre in two groups, led by the Data Centre team, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with BdREN professionals. The programme concluded with a group photograph.
