BdREN Holds its 50th BoT Meeting

Dhaka, June 25, 2024: Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN) held its 50th Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting on June 25, 2024, at its new office at Navana HR Tower-2, Gulshan-Tejgaon Link Road, Dhaka. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, acting Chairperson of BdREN, presided over the meeting. 

Three newly appointed BoT members, who joined BoT in the vacant positions left by four departing BoT members, attended the meeting. One seat is still left vacant as the representative from the Ministry of Education is yet to be appointed. The retiring members were also present for whom an informal farewell session was arranged. During their valedictory speeches, all the departing members expressed their highest satisfaction for getting the opportunity to be a part of BdREN and to get the scope to contribute to BdREN. They also pledged to serve the cause of BdREN by staying in their respective positions in future. The Honorable Chairperson presented the departing trustees with crests and mementoes as an expression of BdREN’s gratitude for their noteworthy services.

The new members expressed their excitement for being part of such an experienced Board of Trustees and for getting the opportunity to work at the helm of such an organization which is growing at a rapid pace. 

During the meeting the board approved the proposed budget for the financial year 2024-25, sanctioning required funding for BdREN’s operation over the year. As BdREN continues to evolve and play a pivotal role in shaping Bangladesh's academic and research landscape, the outcomes of this meeting are expected to trigger positive changes in the days to come.

Newly appointed Trustees:

  • Professor Dr. Md. Didar-ul-Alam, Vice-Chancellor, NSTU.
  • Dr. Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Vice-Chancellor, RUET.
  • Prof. Imran Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh.

The departing Trustees:

  • Professor Dr. M. Kamruzzaman, Vice Chancellor, HSTU
  • Professor Dr. Swadesh Chandra Samanta, Vice Chancellor, PSTU
  • Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Asia Pacific
  • AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik, Chairman, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation
