NU organized a series of four workshops on "Access to e-Resources to Enhance Academic and Research Excellence"
From May 19-20, 2024, National University organized a series of four intensive workshops at National Academy for Education Management (NAEM), Dhaka, focusing on "Access to e-Resources to Enhance Academic and Research Excellence" for Teachers Honors and Masters Colleges under National University. The Librarian and one Faculty Member from each of the 120 colleges as well as Faculty Members of National University were present in the workshop for being trained about the knowhow of getting access to 197 emerald journals through federated access using Trust Integrity and Group Management for Education and Reseach Federation (TIGERFED)_being owned and managed by BdREN. BdREN provided all the technical support in making the event successful.
The opening session on May 19 and May 20 was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of National University, who inaugurated the workshops, while Prof. Dr. Mitul Nasiruddin conducted each of the workshops with his usual flamboyance and style.
Renowned Deans and Professors from National University were present in each of the workshops throughout the two-day rigorous event. Mohammad Tawrit, CEO of BdREN, were also present on behalf of BdREN.
Abu Naser Md. Nafew, an experienced Network Engineer at BdREN, conducted the workshops successfully as it was vindicated through collection of feedbacks after each of the workshop sessions. Jamilur Rahman and Shamim Ahmed, two network engineers from BdREN, assisted Nafew in orchestrating the hands-on activities. Md. Atiqur Rahman, Data Technician, BdREN assisted in setting up the laboratory facilities and the video conferencing setup.
The opening session on May 19 featured Prof. Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of National University, who inaugurated the event, while Mohammad Tawrit, CEO of BdREN, welcomed the attendees.
Throughout the workshops, participants engaged in engrossing training, lively discussions, and hands-on exercises to master e-Book and e-Journal access via TIGERfed. The collaborative atmosphere and exchange of best practices enriched the learning experience, equipping attendees to apply their new skills in their academic institutions.
The training was held in TTT (Train The Trainer) format with the notion that all these college representatives will return back to their premises and will try to organize similar workshops to ventilate their knowledge among the college faculty members. At the end CEO, BdREN expressed his resolve to arrange accesses to other journals in phases provided effective outcome is observed out of the taken initiative.
Echoing the organizer all the attendees pledged that they would return back to their colleges and would try to disseminate their earned knowledge among the fellow faculty members.
